Package of measures “Professional child protection at Carinthian Schools”

An information brochure on “professional child protection in Carinthian schools” was developed to guide action. In coordination with the Directorate of Education, the related knowledge transfer for the target group is being planned and implemented step by step. The Directorate of Education is supported in the current project of developing and implementing child protection policies with the expertise of the Child Protection Unit.

Aim of the Good Practice

1. Making schools safe and learning-friendly places for children and young people. 2. To strengthen the child protection competence of all persons working in schools. 3. Sensitising the education system to child protection issues and making it responsible for them.

Target Group of the Good Practice

All persons working in schools, including school support staff and responsible planning and steering bodies at the administrative level.

The measure is a long-term, ongoing, formative (learning) process in coordination with the addressed education system and its responsibilities.

Evaluation of the Good Practice

The success of the measure is largely dependent on the willingness and accessibility of the addressees from the education system. At present, efforts are being made step by step to win over different groups of people from the education system as multipliers, to sensitize and strengthen them in order to be able to facilitate a further transfer of knowledge to the wider community.

Directorate of Education for Carinthia, directorates, teachers, school support systems (school psychology, school physicians, school social work) and relevant actors in the psychosocial institutions.
