Nutritional Assistance in Health Units

(V.D.04) Healthcare

Organizing nutritional assistance in the Primary Care (AB) routine is essential for health care, which enhances prevention and treatment actions carried out in the daily routine of services, in different management models. It was with this in mind that the Department’s Nutritional Assistance Technical Area developed several actions to achieve the goals, such as expanding the number of UBS with Nutritional Assistance; expanding the number of Food and Nutrition Education activities; expanding capturing anthropometric data of children under 5 years of age and pregnant women aged 15 to 19 who are beneficiaries of Bolsa Família, among others.

The area also carries out campaigns, in addition to having created the “Protocol for Referral to Individual Nutritional Assistance”, among other protocols, allowing the flow of referral of other professionals to the nutritional assistance network, making it possible to qualify the referral, and; prioritize patients in conditions of greater nutritional vulnerability, directing vacancies to those who need it most, without restricting the autonomy of teams and professionals in relation to priority cases.
