Maria da Penha Guardian Program to Combat Gender Violence consists of interdisciplinary care and follow-up in the psychological, social and legal spheres, with humanized and specialized listening to women who suffer any type of violence. In addition to specialized support for women with protective measures, in addition to periodic visits are carried out by the Maria da Penha Guardians (Specialized Municipal Guards). The success of this program is the partnership with the Women’s Defense Police Station, which operates 24 hours a day, the Secretariat of Urban Security and Social Defense, which established the Guardians, the Judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
