Carinthia’s regional tourism organizations created an attractive offer for people wanting to use public transportation for their arrival, during, and after their stay in Carinthia. They have extended the existing scope of service of their guest cards. Since 2022, they have included the unlimited use of all commuter and regional trains in Carinthia and East Tyrol without any additional costs.

Aim of the Good Practice

The aim of the offer is to provide an incentive for tourists to make public transport their selected means of transportation, to encourage sustainable and environment-friendly traveling, and to react to the change in guest behavior.

Target Group of the Good Practice

The target groups are individuals and families who have preferred to travel by car up to now.

Implementation period

The offer is available to every person who has booked an overnight stay in Carinthia from 2022.

Consistency over time

The offer is currently valid from 2022-2024.

Evaluation of the Good Practice

The acceptance and the usage of the offer are evaluated annually via the assessment of the passenger number.

Carinthia’s regional tourism organizations, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), and local transport companies.
