Supporting cities to establish collaborative labs to improve policies, networks, and practices, to innovate the CRFS, and to make them much more sustainable, placing consumers and citizens at the core of solutions.

– Activating labs in 10 cities + 2 regions of the network, which work in their area in collaboration with project partners, local stakeholders, and citizens.
– Engaging 50+ following cities to activate Labs and follow the Cities 2030 Roadmap
– Observing and increasing knowledge to support strategic planning and decisions at the CR level.
– Developing and testing innovative blockchain platforms from production to waste.
– Support the meeting between innovators and investors.

Aim of the Good Practice

Improving the urban food system in the city of Vicenza and in its surrounding areas to make it healthier, more sustainable, and resilient for people, the environment, and socioeconomic welfare.

Target Group of the Good Practice

Local institutions and territorial bodies, trade associations, companies, nonprofit organizations, schools, universities, research centers and citizens.

The consistency of the practice is to be considered high, as the project sets in motion a shared path meant to continue after the project ends.

Key stakeholders and partnerships

At this stage, the project has activated stronger synergies with trade associations and companies related to the agri-food chain, with no-profit organizations, schools of the territory as well as with some peri-urban Municipalities. Citizens are also involved by means of initiatives specifically designed to promote knowledge and participation in food sustainability.

Future Goal 1

Promote better awareness and knowledge about the importance of individual and collective choices of food, strengthening the sense of responsibility towards oneself, the community, and the environment, as well as promoting the ability to produce social and economic well-being.

Designing Vicenza Food Policy as a structural and shared project, enhancing the cooperation with stakeholders, citizens, and urban and peri-urban territories.

Future Goal 3

Supporting short chains, encouraging food waste reduction and reuse, and fostering the creation of urban and periurban networks and partnerships.
