Creation of the Diversity Committee and the Principle of “Encouraging and Valuing Diversity”

(V.D.03) Education

1. What is diversity? 1.1. Diversity is understood to be any set of characteristics, whether physical, behavioral, cultural, sexual, ethnic, linguistic, religious, etc. from that understanding, there are no groups or individuals who do not benefit from respect for diversity because although there are hegemonic characteristics, all are different from each other. It is important to highlight that there are groups that suffer from disrespect for their diversity and must be supported by diversity projects that seek to achieve respect for any possible human characteristic.

2. General Purpose 2.1. The purpose of the permanent diversity committee is to promote respect for diversity, in all its dimensions, within the Descomplica SP program – in each one of its service units, as well as among its administrative and rear.

3. Specific Purpose. 3.1. Respect for what is different comes through coexistence and knowledge, to generate empathy and recognition, therefore, the diversity committees: 3.1.1. will hold events and actions to bring information, and stimulate debates and conversations on the topic; 3.1.2. will look for ways to increase the level of diversity among the teams that integrate the program; 3.1.3. will act as a support and welcoming network for employees who suffer any kind of discrimination. This attribution does not replace the actions of the bodies competent. 3.1.4. any other activities that contribute to these objectives.

4. Composition and structure of the committee 4.1. Holding events in all areas of the Descomplica SP program is important for building the visibility of diversity. Therefore, each unit must compose a Regional Committee, without limit of members, and prioritize the participation in its construction, including representing the diversity found in the teams. It uncomplicates and in the public served by it. 4.2. The body of the committee will be composed of: 4.2.1. Permanent group that should be built locally in each unit. It uncomplicates SP and should be responsible for the activities proposed in conjunction with the events committee in order to organize and provide the infrastructure for the events that will need invited participants; 4.2.2. Sporadic guests will participate depending on the activity. will be chosen from according to familiarity with the issues addressed in the chosen topic.

5. Activities proposed by the committee 5.1. Regional Committees will hold events of various types, independently or with support from other units and from the rear. When the event is organized regionally, let’s say the event is from the Regional Committee of that unit. when it’s an event larger and structured for all units, let’s call it a General Committee event. The General Committee is composed of the members of the Regional Committees. In carrying out the actions, it is possible to invite people with experience in their areas, whether they are from within the program or not, to handle and participate in these events. It is important to consider that some types of events may need extra resources, in addition to those available in the units, in this sense, it would be interesting to prioritize the modalities and formats that do not depend on them. Of course, without restricting events that depend on others’ resources, it is possible to request them from the rear, even though they may take some time. Adapting the needs and characteristics of each unit to the available resources is the goal. Examples of events and actions that can and should be carried out: 5.1.1. Conversation circles with the teams and the surrounding community; 5.1.2. Diversity Week (a more intense period of activities and events related to Diversity); 5.1.3. Speeches; 5.1.4. Workshops; 5.1.5. Remote events (possibility of extending the discussion outside the units and with more participants and guests); 5.1.6. Cultural events.
5.2. Host Network: the members of the Regional Committees must be available to welcome employees who feel discriminated against. This reception is supported by the rearguard team and does not replace the actions of the competent bodies, but must be a fast track to fighting discrimination.
