Autumn Initiative to improve the seasonal touristic offers

(V.D.08) Affordability, (V.D.09) Leisure and Tourism

In Carinthia, summer tourism mainly happens either in the months of July and August. This initiative was established to both extend the peak travel season and promote the off-peak season. It attempts to make holidays in Carinthia more interesting and attractive in the autumn by supporting the tourism regions by providing a special program for the fall months and by providing an enticement for keeping the local alpine inns and huts open.

Aim of the Good Practice

The aim of the initiative is to improve the seasonal touristic offers in the months of September, October, and November, to achieve an extension of the peak-season as well as an increased value added.

Target Group of the Good Practice

The target groups are business owners, tourist attractions, and alpine inns in the sector of leisure and tourism in Carinthia.

Implementation period

The regional tourist organizations co-created attractive tourist programs for the months of September, October, and November in 2019 with their local partners and received funding from the Regional Government of Carinthia.

Consistency over time

The annual initiative has already taken place for three years.

Evaluation of the Good Practice

The good practice is evaluated through feedback from the participants as well as through an analysis of the submitted documents and marketing activities of the regional tourism organizations.

Key stakeholders and partnerships

The participating regional tourism organizations with their local partners and Kärnten Werbung, funding from the Regional Government of Carinthia.

Future Goal 1

The goal is to achieve an even occupancy rate throughout the whole year.
